For most families, the school week is a rigid five-day march. But at PEAK Mastery, we start with a different question: What if Fridays weren’t a traditional school day?.
We recognize that not every child learns best in the exact same structure every single day. Some students need a quiet space for deep reflection, while others thrive during hands-on, real-world exploration. By reimagining the final day of the school week, we create a bridge between the classroom and the community.
Depending on a student's individual goals and academic needs, a "Flexible Friday" at PEAK Mastery may include:
Field Experiences: Taking learning out into the Utah landscape.
Workshops & Student Clubs: Diving deep into specific interests or collaborative projects.
Small Group Support: Extra time for students who need to revisit a concept to reach mastery.
At-Home Learning & Reflection: Space for families to connect and for students to process what they’ve learned.
Our unique Friday schedule isn't just about flexibility; it is a strategic extension of our core values:
P — Personalized: Fridays allow us to meet students exactly where they are. If a child is ready for a challenge, they can join an advanced workshop; if they need more time, they can receive targeted small-group coaching.
E — Expeditionary: This is the day when our "expeditionary" heart truly beats. Field experiences and project-based work turn the world into a classroom, helping students see the real-world application of their studies.
A — Agency: Fridays are a training ground for self-direction. Students learn to manage their time and choose activities—such as student clubs or independent projects—that align with their personal learning goals.
K — Kinship: By removing the pressure of a standard lecture day, we create space for deeper connection. Whether it's through multi-age clubs or homeroom reconnection, Fridays strengthen the bond between students, peers, and their coaches.
The goal of this model isn't just to provide a "break" from the norm. The idea is to create a balance that supports both strong academic growth and real-world learning. Research-based practices, such as Socratic discussions and interdisciplinary projects, are woven into these experiences to ensure that even "flexible" time is high-impact learning time.
We are currently working through the Utah charter approval process to bring Flexible Fridays and personalized learning to our local families. To make this vision a reality, we need to show the state board that our community is ready for a school that prioritizes both flexibility and excellence.
