2-Day On-Site

The 2-Day On-Site Pathway blends on-campus learning, at-home learning, family partnership, and personalized flexibility within the PEAK Mastery learning model.

Students participate in:

while also having greater flexibility in how learning fits into daily life and family rhythms.

The goal is to create a learning experience that remains:

Families choose the 2-Day On-Site Pathway for many different reasons, including:

• personalized pacing,

• family flexibility,

• travel opportunities,

• athletics or extracurricular schedules,

• entrepreneurship,

• health considerations,

• neurodiverse learning needs,

• reduced overwhelm,

• real-world learning opportunities,

• or a desire for more integrated family learning rhythms.

There is not one “type” of student who chooses the 2-Day On-Site Pathway. Families simply choose the structure that best supports their child and overall learning experience.

No. The 2-Day On-Site Pathway still includes:

• mastery-based learning,

• Utah Core alignment,

• coaching,

• accountability,

• projects,

• reflection,

• and meaningful academic expectations.

The learning rhythm looks different than a traditional full-time schedule, but students remain engaged in connected, intentional, and academically meaningful learning experiences.

Families have flexibility within:

• pacing,

• project work,

• learning environments,

• field experiences,

• and daily learning rhythms.

However, students still work toward:

• learning goals,

• mastery expectations,

• and connected school experiences.

The 2-Day On-Site Pathway is designed around structured flexibility, not completely unstructured learning.

Both pathways share the same PEAK Mastery learning model, expectations, and support. The difference is where learning happens and how much families facilitate off-site.

The 4-Day Pathway provides more on-site academic instruction and daily structure, with one day for Extended Learning Experiences.

The 2-Day Pathway offers greater flexibility, with two days of hands-on learning and coaching at PEAK Mastery and three off-site days where families take a more active role in facilitating learning, particularly math and language arts.

Students attend two on-campus days each week, with supported at-home learning on remaining weekdays, plus Extended Learning Experiences.

Extended Learning Experiences provide additional opportunities for:

On-site days focus on the learning experiences that benefit most from being together. Students participate in Wonder Workshops, electives, coaching and connection, collaborative projects, hands-on learning, life skills, and opportunities to create, explore, and learn with peers. Academic support in math and literacy is also available based on student needs.

These days are designed to make the most of students’ time at PEAK Mastery through relationships, collaboration, and experiences that are difficult to replicate at home.

At-home days provide flexibility for students to complete math and language arts learning, independent work, and Extended Learning Experiences at a pace and in an environment that works for their family. Families help facilitate learning with resources, expectations, and ongoing support from PEAK Mastery educators.

Students can also use this time to explore interests, pursue deeper learning, and take advantage of real-world experiences in their home and community.

Extended Learning Experiences provide opportunities for:

• personalized learning,

• support,

• projects,

• field work,

• and real-world learning experiences.

Students may participate in one of three pathways:

On-Campus Support & Workshops

Additional support, coaching, small-group learning, or enrichment opportunities.

Independent & At-Home Learning

Personalized goals, projects, reading, reflection, or continued learning at home.

Field Work & Real-World Learning

Community experiences, outdoor learning, service projects, apprenticeships, or real-world exploration connected to learning goals.

At-home learning is based on learner-validated attendance rather than traditional seat time, so there is not a set number of hours students must sit at a desk each day. Students demonstrate participation through meaningful engagement, completed learning activities, progress toward mastery, check-ins, and other evidence of learning.

The amount of time will vary based on a student’s age, learning needs, pace, and the type of learning taking place. At-home days may include math and literacy, independent learning, reading, projects, fieldwork, or Extended Learning Experiences in the home and community.

The focus is on meaningful learning and demonstrated progress, not simply logging hours.

On-site days follow PEAK Mastery’s established school-day schedule, with students arriving and participating in scheduled learning blocks alongside their peers.

At-home learning days offer much greater flexibility. Learning does not need to happen during traditional school hours or follow the same schedule each day. Families can organize learning around their student’s needs, family schedule, and meaningful opportunities in the community.

Students are still expected to meet PEAK Mastery’s learning and participation expectations, but when and how learning happens off-site can be flexible.

Families receive clear learning plans, schedules, expectations, and resources through PEAK Mastery’s learning platform. Students and families can see what needs to be completed on at-home days while maintaining flexibility in when and how learning happens.

PEAK Mastery coaches provide ongoing communication, progress monitoring, and support, helping families understand what’s coming up, what their student is working toward, and when additional support may be needed.

Families receive supported curriculum pathways and recommendations aligned with:

• mastery-based learning,

• literacy development,

• mathematical understanding,

• and Utah Core standards.

PEAK Mastery plans to offer a variety of approved curriculum options and learning resources so families can choose pathways that best support their child’s needs, learning style, and goals.

Foundations learning may include combinations of:

• hands-on materials,

• books and literature,

• math manipulatives,

• writing and journaling,

• discussion and reflection,

• project-based learning,

• educational games,

• online learning tools,

• and optional learning apps and digital supports.

Some families may prefer:

• more hands-on approaches,

• traditional curriculum,

• blended learning tools,

• or additional digital practice opportunities.

Families will receive guidance and support in selecting learning resources that align with both student needs and school learning goals.

The 2-Day On-Site Pathway is intentionally designed to support meaningful, connected learning rather than relying primarily on worksheets or screen-heavy instruction alone.

Wonder Workshops provide:

• grade-aligned content exposure,

• interdisciplinary learning,

• and Utah Core alignment.

Foundations learning supports:

• literacy,

• math,

• and foundational skill development.

Students continue progressing through:

• projects,

• coaching,

The goal is helping students build both strong academic foundations and meaningful understanding.

Students are not expected to move forward simply because time has passed.

Instead, students progress through:

Students may:

• revisit concepts,

• receive additional support,

• or move ahead when ready.

Mastery learning helps students build:

• confidence,

Growth may be demonstrated through:

Families may also participate in regular progress check-ins and submit or bring in student work samples from Foundations learning to help teachers monitor growth, provide feedback, and ensure students remain supported and on track academically.

PEAK Mastery emphasizes:

Additional reporting requirements required by the state will also be followed.

Foundations focuses on math and language arts, with families taking a more active role in facilitating learning on at-home days. PEAK Mastery provides learning expectations, resources, and guidance, while families have flexibility in how and when that learning takes place.

Students work toward the same mastery goals and competencies, with PEAK Mastery educators monitoring progress, providing feedback, and offering additional instruction or support when needed.

Wonder Workshops bring multiple subjects together through curiosity-driven, hands-on learning. Students explore compelling questions and real-world challenges while applying skills from science, social studies, literacy, math, and the arts in meaningful ways.

Learning extends beyond the workshop through projects, fieldwork, electives, and Extended Learning Experiences, allowing students to make connections and take their learning deeper.

Parents play an active supportive role, particularly during:

• Foundations learning,

• planning,

• at-home learning rhythms,

• and helping students manage goals and routines.

However, families are not expected to:

• create curriculum,

• “do school alone,”

• or manage learning without support.

PEAK Mastery provides:

• curriculum guidance,

• learning goals,

• planning tools,

• coaching,

• communication,

• and ongoing support.

Families may also have opportunities to participate in the school community through:

• volunteer experiences,

• field work,

• celebrations,

• community events,

• and learning support opportunities.

Because 2-Day On-Site students are on campus fewer days each week, volunteer expectations may be lighter than the 4-Day On-Site Pathway.

The goal is partnership, not pressure.

Families receive ongoing support through:

• goal-setting support,

• parent workshops,

• and personalized guidance.

Students and families remain connected to teachers and coaches throughout the learning experience.

The 2-Day On-Site model is designed to be flexible, supportive, and adaptable for families.

Students are also gradually taught:

• independence,

• organization,

• and ownership of learning over time.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is creating a sustainable and meaningful learning experience that works for your family.

If families discover that a different learning rhythm may better support their child, opportunities to transition between learning pathways may be available depending on space and timing.

We recognize that every child and family is different, and our goal is to help families find the environment where their child can grow, feel supported, and thrive.

PEAK Mastery plans to provide families with clear learning plans, schedules, checklists, and resources to help organize at-home learning. Digital planning tools are expected to help families see what students are learning, what needs to be completed, upcoming activities, and progress toward mastery.

These tools will be designed to provide structure and direction without taking away the flexibility that is central to the 2-Day On-Site Pathway.

Families can expect regular communication and ongoing support from their student’s PEAK Mastery coach. Coaches will help families understand learning expectations, monitor student progress, celebrate growth, and identify when additional support may be needed.

Through check-ins, progress updates, and family conferences, coaches will serve as a consistent point of connection between the student, family, and school throughout the year.

Yes. PEAK Mastery plans to offer parent workshops and resources to help families feel confident supporting learning at home. Topics may include understanding mastery-based learning, facilitating math and literacy, using planning and learning tools, supporting student independence, and making the most of Extended Learning Experiences.

Our goal is to equip families as learning partners without expecting parents to become classroom teachers.

Families should have access to:

• a reliable internet connection,

• a computer or tablet for student use when needed,

• and a quiet space where students can focus on learning activities and independent work.

Technology may be used to support:

• communication,

• planning,

• progress tracking,

• optional learning apps,

• research,

• and access to learning resources.

Depending on the curriculum pathway selected, families may also receive or use:

• books,

• hands-on materials,

• manipulatives,

• journals,

• printed resources,

• and project supplies.

As the school becomes more established and long-term budgeting is better understood, PEAK Mastery hopes to explore options for providing student learning devices to help support access and consistency for families.

However, the 2-Day On-Site Pathway is not designed around primarily screen-based learning alone.

Students also engage in:

• reading,

• projects,

• discussion,

• journaling,

• hands-on learning,

• outdoor experiences,

• and real-world application.

Students receive:

• coaching,

• intervention,

• personalized support,

• flexible pacing,

• and targeted guidance.

The 2-Day On-Site Pathway creates opportunities to:

Students are supported based on their individual learning needs, and accommodations, services, and IEP supports will continue to be implemented as appropriate within the 2-Day On-Site learning pathway.

Teachers, coaches, families, and support staff work together to help students continue progressing through meaningful, personalized learning experiences.

Students may:

• move ahead when ready,

• pursue enrichment,

• explore deeper projects,

• and continue progressing through mastery-based learning pathways.

The model creates opportunities for:

The 2-Day On-Site Pathway combines flexibility with accountability and support.

PEAK Mastery will monitor student progress to identify when additional support or instruction is needed. Depending on the student’s needs, support may include targeted small-group or individual instruction, additional practice and resources, coach support, or opportunities for additional on-site learning.

The goal is to identify gaps early and provide responsive support so students can continue progressing toward mastery.

Students are supported in progressing toward mastery at a pace that reflects their individual needs. Rather than simply moving on because a set amount of time has passed, students can receive additional practice and support when needed or opportunities to extend and deepen learning when ready.

PEAK Mastery coaches and educators will monitor progress and help families make adjustments so students remain appropriately challenged and continually growing.

Independent Study is primarily part of students’ at-home learning days, giving them flexibility to pursue interests, work on personal goals, deepen learning, or develop projects of their own choosing.

With support from their PEAK Mastery coach, students will learn to set goals, make a plan, manage their time, and reflect on their progress, gradually building the skills and confidence to become more self-directed learners.

PEAK Mastery will intentionally help students develop the skills needed to plan, organize, manage time, set priorities, and follow through on their learning. Coaches will support students in setting goals, breaking larger tasks into manageable steps, monitoring progress, and reflecting on what strategies work best for them.

Planning tools and routines will provide additional structure, with the goal of helping students gradually build greater independence and ownership of their learning.

Yes. 2-Day On-Site students remain active members of the PEAK Mastery community through:

Students continue building:

Flexible learning does not mean disconnected learning.

Wonder Workshops remain grade-aligned to ensure students continue receiving grade-specific content exposure aligned with Utah Core standards.

2-Day On-Site students may participate in:

Students remain connected to shared school experiences throughout the year.

On-site days provide intentional opportunities for collaboration, teamwork, discussion, and relationship-building through Wonder Workshops, projects, electives, fieldwork, and other shared experiences.

PEAK Mastery also plans to create opportunities for students and families to connect beyond on-site days, including optional group Extended Learning Experiences, community activities, field work, and other shared learning opportunities. Families may choose to participate in ELEs together, giving students additional ways to learn, explore, and build friendships with their PEAK Mastery community throughout the week.

Yes. Students in the 2-Day On-Site Pathway are fully part of the PEAK Mastery community and will have opportunities to participate in Celebrations of Learning, performances, exhibitions, presentations, and other school and community events.

These experiences give students opportunities to share what they have learned, celebrate growth, and connect with peers, families, and the broader PEAK Mastery community.

Students participate in electives and collaborative discussions during their on-site days, giving them opportunities to explore interests, learn new skills, share ideas, and learn alongside peers.

Electives may connect to current Wonder Workshops or introduce students to new interests and practical skills, while discussions encourage students to ask questions, consider different perspectives, communicate their thinking, and learn from one another.

Field work and real-world learning are intentionally woven throughout the 2-Day On-Site learning experience.

The flexible structure creates opportunities for students to engage in learning beyond traditional classroom walls through experiences such as:

• outdoor learning,

• community projects,

• museums and cultural experiences,

• entrepreneurship,

• service learning,

• apprenticeships,

• nature studies,

• local business visits,

• hands-on projects,

• and real-world investigations connected to learning goals.

These experiences may take place during at-home learning days, Extended Learning Experiences, through Wonder Workshops, or as part of personalized projects and family learning experiences.

Students may apply learning through:

• budgeting and business planning,

• engineering and design challenges,

• field observations,

• presentations,

• journaling and reflection,

• research,

• data collection,

• interviews,

• storytelling,

• and collaborative projects.

The goal is helping students connect learning to meaningful experiences, real-life problem solving, curiosity, and the world around them.

Depending on availability, timing, and student needs, families may have opportunities to transition between pathways.

The goal is helping families find the learning environment that best supports their child.

PEAK Mastery recognizes that family circumstances and student needs can change over time. Families in the 2-Day On-Site Pathway may request a transition to the 4-Day On-Site Pathway when greater on-site structure or support is needed, subject to available space and appropriate transition points.

PEAK Mastery coaches will also work with families to adjust supports and help determine which pathway best meets the student’s needs.

Field experiences may take place during on-site learning days or as Extended Learning Experiences on at-home days, depending on the activity. Some will be organized by PEAK Mastery as part of Wonder Workshops or other learning, while families may also choose community experiences, excursions, and real-world learning opportunities that connect to their student’s goals and interests.

PEAK Mastery also plans to offer optional group ELE opportunities where students and families can learn, explore, and connect together beyond their regular on-site days.

Transportation options will depend on available funding. PEAK Mastery hopes to eventually provide school transportation for field work and other learning experiences, but we do not yet know whether funding will support a school bus during our early years.

Initially, families should plan to provide transportation or coordinate carpools for field experiences and optional Extended Learning Experiences until funding allows PEAK Mastery to offer additional transportation options.

Families will select the 2-Day On-Site Pathway during enrollment and can indicate their preferred on-site attendance days. PEAK Mastery will make every effort to accommodate family preferences based on available space and will prioritize keeping siblings on the same schedule unless a family requests otherwise.

Students will attend PEAK Mastery on their two assigned days each week, with the remaining three days available for at-home learning and Extended Learning Experiences.

Yes. Families may choose the pathway that best fits the needs of each individual student, so siblings do not need to participate in the same pathway.

Families may have one child in the 2-Day On-Site Pathway and another in the 4-Day On-Site Pathway, allowing them to consider each child’s learning needs, level of independence, and preferred amount of on-site support.
